About Us

Our History

Taylor Funeral Home has a rich history dating back to its founding by Mr. Everett Taylor in 1953. Initially established at 1001 West Grand Avenue in Wisconsin Rapids, it served as a pillar of the community. The tradition of family involvement continued when Everett was joined by his two sons-in-law, Irvin Vollert in 1966 and Michael Jennings in 1975.

As the years passed, Irv and Mike took the reins of the business, eventually acquiring it from Everett. They continued to provide compassionate funeral services at the West Grand Avenue location until October 2004 when they embarked on a new chapter. Relocating to the current address at 2201 Chestnut Street, they rebranded the business as Taylor, Vollert, and Jennings Funeral Home.

In January 2004, Justin Herman, a lifelong resident of Wisconsin Rapids, joined Irv and Mike at the funeral home after gaining valuable experience at Higgins Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids for five years. The transition continued as Justin assumed ownership of the business on February 1, 2012. With this change, the business was renamed Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center, signifying its commitment to serving the community with care and dignity.

Through the generations and transitions, Taylor Funeral Home has remained a steadfast presence, dedicated to helping families in their times of need.
