William ("Mick") Keepers, age 88, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2024, with family by his side. Born on July 23, 1936, in Nekoosa, WI, he was the son of the late Cecil and Iva (Michaels) Keepers. Mick was preceded in death by his sister Mary Jane Waite and his brother Ronald Keepers.
A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Mick served on the USS Richard B. Anderson. He spent many years on the road as a truck driver for Schneider Transport, enjoying the chance to explore new places and meet new people. Later, he worked at AGA Gas and Northland Cranberries. Known for his quick wit and playful spirit, Mick always found a way to bring humor to any situation, reminding those around him to seek joy in everyday life.
Whenever possible, Mick loved riding his Harley in the open air. He had a passion for golfing and bowling, dedicating much of his free time to these activities in his younger years. He once bowled a perfect 300 game. A fan of classic films, he enjoyed watching movies and discussing their historical significance with others. Mick also had a knack for problem-solving, often working through crossword puzzles and brainteasers—a skill he passed down to his children.
Mick is survived by his children: Cameron (Christina) Keepers, Gregory Keepers, Kristin Felts (Bruce Leopold), Bryan (April) Keepers, Teri (Eric) Hall, and Stacy (Travis) Ubinger; along with 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
In accordance with Mick's wishes, in lieu of formal services, a family gathering will be planned at a later date.
