TavaMae was born March 27, 2007 in Wisconsin Rapids to Nancy Zimmerman and Scott Mortensen.
She was a graduate of Immanuel Lutheran Grade School in Wisconsin Rapids and enjoyed attending their annual Fun Fest and playing soccer while a student there. She was currently a junior at Lincoln High School, participating in the DECA program with dreams of pursuing a degree in accounting after high school. Her dedication to academia was only surpassed by her commitment to the things she loved; TavaMae's passion for life was reflected in her varied hobbies. A food enthusiast, she relished the flavors of Mexican cuisine, frequenting local favorites such as Avocados, El Mezcal, and El Taqueria. She was an avid gamer, challenging friends and family to riveting matches in Call of Duty, Minecraft, and Fortnite on her beloved PS5. As an ardent advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, TavaMae's compassion knew no bounds. Her love for animals, particularly cats, was profound and she found immense joy in family traditions like Easter egg hunts, birthday parties, and annual Halloween parties at her uncle's house in Ohio.
TavaMae is survived by her mother, Nancy Zimmerman; her father, Scott (Karen) Mortensen; one brother, Cole Porter and one sister, Dayton Sillman; aunts and uncles: Wayne (Julie) Zimmerman, JoAnn (Terry) Jepson, Allen (Linda) Zimmerman, Randy (Sue) Zimmerman, Cindy Oleson, Kathi Novotny, Sharon Schroeder, Vickie Matts, Karen (Leo) Kelnhofer, Mary (Phil) Mlsna, and Paul (Kim) Mortensen; and special friends, Hailey Voss and Amarie Harris. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Wayne and Jean Zimmerman and Richard and Shirley Mortensen; two uncles, Terry Zimmerman and Peter Mortensen; and aunt Trish Andreasen.
Special thanks to Jason Joling for all his help and support during this difficult time.
