Roger J. Hildebrandt, age 73, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024, at Edenbrook Nursing Home.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Roger was born January 3, 1951, in Wisconsin Rapids to Donald and Nancy (Shymanski) Hildebrandt. He graduated from Nekoosa High School in 1969 and proudly served in the United States Navy for four years as a combat medic.
He was a dedicated laborer at Smurfit Stone Company until his retirement. He also worked at Ore-Ida as a line operator for ten years. But his true passion lay in the simple pleasures of life. A lifelong Green Bay Packer, Badger, and Brewer’s fan, he found joy in the camaraderie sports brought. His thoughtful nature was often displayed as he quietly sat watching deer and birds, embracing nature's beauty in full bloom. In his heart, Roger was a true Wisconsinite. He loved boating on Castle Rock Lake and relishing his time outdoors. In his quiet time he enjoyed watching western movies.
Roger had a fondness for a good steak, a hearty burger, and his favorite - blueberry muffins. He loved socializing at Kozie's with friends and family, their shared laughter, stories, and slices of pizza making for cherished memories. His love and devotion to Faith Baptist Church were a testament to his deep faith and dedicated service to his community. Roger truly embodied this sentiment, particularly in his love for music, which fueled his soul and added rhythm to his life.
Roger is survived by his siblings: Rick (Kathy) Hildebrandt, Rhonda (Vaughn) Hetzel, Robyn Hildebrandt; nieces Kristin, Shayna, Ashley, Rebekah, Suzanne, and nephew Garrett. Roger is further survived by his friends, church pals, and special friends Lois and Malcolm.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents and brother Rollie Hildebrandt.
The family would like to thank the Edenbrook and Heartland Hospice staff for their excellent care.
