Robert L. Mitchell

–

Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin

We remember with love and admiration Robert L. Mitchell, who was born in Minneapolis, MN on October 19, 1936, and who passed away on October 24, 2024. From his humble beginnings in Minneapolis to his later years in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, Robert was a tireless worker, a devoted family man, and a lover of the great outdoors.

Robert dedicated his life to the craft of carpentry, a skill he honed with precision and care. He was self-employed and also worked for notable construction companies such as Benk Construction, Up North Builders in International Falls, Minnesota, and RCH Enterprises in Wisconsin Rapids. Robert's hands, strong and steady, built not just homes, but also the lives of those who lived within them. His work was more than a profession—it was a testament to his enduring spirit and his commitment to creating tangible memories for his loved ones. His passion extended beyond his work, as he found joy in building bird houses, helping his son, Dale, build his house on Big Sandy Lake, and remodeling the family cabin on Rainy Lake.

Robert's love for the outdoors was only surpassed by his love for his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, his children: Dean, Dale, Julie, and Amy; his stepchildren, Kip, Thad, Elisa, Tara and Jason; his 24 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; his sisters, Judy Harn and Pat Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents. His favorite pastime was his fishing trips with his sons in Canada, a cherished tradition that created countless memories.
As we remember Robert, let us be inspired by his dedication to his craft, his love for his family, and his passion for the outdoors. His life serves as a reminder that it is the simple pleasures, the quiet moments, the acts of love that truly make a life well-lived. Robert L. Mitchell succeeded and so much more. Please join us in celebrating Robert by sharing your memories, photos, and stories on his memorial page.
