Rita K. Vreeland

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of a remarkable woman, Rita K. Vreeland, on March 15, 2025. Born on December 10, 1965, in Milwaukee, WI, Rita was a beacon of love, joy, and strength. Her vibrant spirit touched the lives of many, and her memory will forever be cherished by those who knew her.

She was a remarkable cook, an avid reader, and a keen gardener. Rita had a special place in her heart for the cabin in Spooner, Wisconsin, where she cherished moments of tranquility and the beauty of nature. She was an enthusiastic collector of Grinch memorabilia and had an unshakeable affinity for the old cartoon version of the Grinch. Above all, Rita treasured spending time with her family and friends, and she loved her dogs Max, Elka, and River as well as her grand pets, Bea, Stanley, Tuesday, Pacha, Cece, Harvey, Midge, and Ozzy.

Rita leaves behind a loving family: her devoted husband, Daniel Vreeland, whom she married on September 2, 1989; her caring children Veronica (Ryan) Vreeland, Marissa (Jordan) Ashenberg, and Alan Vreeland. She is also survived by her siblings and in-laws, Dawn Poe, Guy Zingler, Vicki (Mike) Jelinski, John (Sue) Vreeland, and Mike Vreeland. Rita was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Veronica Zingler, her beloved dog Lucy, her brothers Gary and Kenneth Zingler, and her in-laws Richard and Carol Vreeland, Sue King, and Bruce Amundson.

A celebration of Rita's life will take place on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 4:00 pm CDT at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 2201 Chestnut Street, Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, 54494. All who knew and loved Rita are invited to join us in remembering her vibrant life.
