Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin
Richard (Tex) Goretski, age 84, of Wisconsin Rapids, stopped praying the Rosary on February 23, 2026.
He was born the second son of Edward Goretski Sr. and Cecilia (Kostus) Goretski on April 28, 1941.
A Celebration of life will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, 2201 Chestnut Street. With a Rosary service at 6:00 p.m.
Richard began working at a young age at Dobbe Chevrolet in Rosholt, WI. He finished high school in Rosholt before joining the Air Force, after which he worked many farm and construction jobs before moving to Milwaukee to work at Pelton Steel. After working in the steel industry, Richard began working in the paper industry in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, from which he retired.
Richard also enjoyed building and applying his mechanical skills. He met the love of his life, Delores Ostrowski, and they married on January 28, 1967, at St. Stanislaus Church in Stevens Point, WI. God blessed them with a daughter, Queena, on October 20, 1967.
Richard had quite a sense of humor and enjoyed stretching the truth while telling stories that were always humorous. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing his guitar, an Epiphone Excellente, and cruising the waterways in his new boat, which he kept through the years and refused to sell. His creative genius allowed him to adapt things that others would have thrown away into something new and useful. He loved his family and did his best to provide for them all he could. He prayed the Rosary several times a day and would spend many hours in meditation and devotion at the Marian Shrine. Religion was a very important part of his life.
Richard came from a large family and had eight brothers and three sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Edward (Pat) Goretski Jr, Eugene (Bonnie) Goretski, Maynard (Sandy) Goretski, and Lee (Sandra) Goretski; sisters: Marie (Peter) Knapp, and Janice (Gregory) Woyak; Sisters-in-law: Bonnie (Adamski) Goretski and Sandra (Zimmerman) Goretski.
Richard is survived by his sister Carol Iwanski; brothers: Gary Goretski, Dennis Goretski, Ralph Goretski, and Marv Goretski; sisters-in-law: Pat (Bushman) Goretski and Sandra (Karch) Goretski; and godson Jameson (Jennifer) Kubala.
Richard will be missed and will be praying for all of us left behind as he has done during his time on earth. God be with you (Tex).
