Michael (Shitter) Schymanski Jr.

Michael D. “Shitter” Schymanski Jr., age 66, of Wisconsin Rapids passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at UW Hospital in Madison, WI after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mike was a devoted son, a loving husband, and an unforgettable friend. He was born in Eau Claire, WI to Jean (McVinney) and the late Michael Schymanski Sr. He grew up in Wisconsin Rapids and graduated from Lincoln High School, Class of 1976. He was united in marriage to Cheryl Jagodzinski on April 15, 1978 in Wisconsin Rapids. They shared many beautiful years together, creating countless memories.

Mike worked at NAPA Auto, Golden Sands Cranberry Marsh, and retired from Mariani Foods. After retirement, he continued to work part-time for Tri-Lakes Management in the Town of Rome.

Mike was a beacon of light to his family and friends, spreading joy and laughter wherever he went. He lived life to the fullest, embracing numerous hobbies and passions. In his younger years, he was a daring dirt bike rider, and he never lost his love of the great outdoors, enjoying deer hunting, fishing, camping, and UTV riding. He was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers, and he was always up for a game of dice with his friends. He was a gregarious socializer, always the life of any gathering.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl; mother, Jean Schymanski; sister, Debbie Ackerman and her children: Melissa, Katie (Chris), and Jon; mother-in-law, Barb Jagodzinki; brother-in-law, Rick (Jill) Jagodzinski; nephew, Troy (Lisa) Ortscheid; niece, Melody Ortscheid; and his beloved kitty, Kenzie. He was preceded in death by his father; uncles: Don, Willie, and Jack; aunt, Eunice Crandall; father-in-law, Carl Jagodzinski; and sisters-in-law Connie Steele and Cindy Davis.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 P.M. on Friday, December 6, 2024, with a brief remembrance at 4:00 p.m.at the Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids.
