Melvin J. "Doc" Weller Jr.

Melvin J. “Doc” Weller Jr. age 81, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at the Herman-Taylor Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
He was born on December 14, 1942, in Wisconsin Rapids, the son of Melvin and Irene (Knuth) Weller Sr. Doc graduated from Lincoln High School class of 1961. He was self-employed as a carpenter but also worked for Northland Cranberries until his retirement. Doc and Mary Kay enjoyed travelling, they would spend their winters in Mercedes, TX for the last 21 years. He also enjoyed golfing, camping, boating, and NASCAR racing but most of all spending time with his family and friends.
Doc is survived by his partner of 31 years Mary Kay Schoechert; his son, Barry (Julie) Weller; his brother Thomas (Gayle) Weller; his sister, Ngaio (Dean) Schumacher. He is further survived by Six grandchildren: two great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to thank the Aspirus Palliative Care Team for all the care they gave Doc.
Memorials may be made in Doc’s name to Shriners Children’s Hospital.
