Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin
Martin Edward Jackson passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at the age of 89 with his family by his side.
Martin was born on February 3, 1935 to Henry E Jackson and Esther (Sierck) Jackson in Wisconsin Rapids.
Martin graduated from Lincoln High School, Class of 1953 in Wisconsin Rapids. Shortly after graduation, he was hired at Consolidated Papers, where he worked in various positions, retiring in 1995 after 43 years of service. His position at retirement was a Supervisor in the Production, Inventory and Control Department at the Converting Plant.
In 1956 Martin married Margaret Dernbach. They lived in the Town of Seneca in a house that was built out of lumber from their land. Marty spent many hours in his woods, hunting for deer and making wood for the fireplace and woodstove. He took pride in being a good steward to that property and made sure it was managed well and taken care of.
Marty loved the outdoors and in his younger years he hunted deer and small game. He also travelled West to Montana to hunt mule deer.
Marty and Margaret loved travelling with their 5th wheel to Branson, northern Wisconsin and west to the mountains of Montana. They also enjoyed fishing trips to Canada and brought home impressive catches of walleyes. Margaret knew what she was getting into when she married Marty, with their honeymoon trip being Canada. They were each other’s best friend until last year when Margaret passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023. Marty was a devoted husband, visiting her in the nursing home daily for 7 years.
Martin leaves for survivors his daughters Kris (Michael) Cichocki of Waldo, WI and Dawn (Mark) Lamb of Wisconsin Rapids; his beloved grandchildren: Kate Cichocki (Friend Josh Gorst), Rachel (Clint) Jepson, and Lauren Eberhardt; step granddaughter Amy Preiser (friend Jim Grinwald); great grandchildren: Gabriel and Ariel Kohlmann, Cooper, Paisley and Carter Jepson and Owen Seifert and Molly Eberhardt; and nephews: John Derbach (Kathy Yorkievitz) Dr Paul (MaryJo) Dernbach and Robert (Jeanne) Dernbach.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Esther Jackson; in-laws Adolph and Mabel Dernbach and brother-in-law Robert Dernbach.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 A.M. until the time of services on Friday at the funeral home.
