Loren Eugene Evenson, age 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Arborwood Lodge, Wisconsin Rapids. He was born on October 3, 1943, in Wheeler, Wisconsin, the son of Merrill and Daisy (Follensbee) Evenson. On November 6, 1965, Loren married the love of his life, Paula Arnold, in Wisconsin Rapids. Together they built a beautiful life and celebrated nearly 61 years of marriage. If you'd ask him what was most important, he would simply say his family.
A hardworking and dedicated man, Loren started his career in sales and was highly valued. Then he put his entrepreneurial skills to work and founded Evenson's Marine in Rome. He took great pride in the family business and was grateful to see it continue on through his son Curt after his retirement. Loren's work ethic, honesty, and steady presence made him well‑respected in the community and among the many customers he served.
Outside of work, Loren found joy in the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, farming, snowmobiling and spending time on the lake pontooning with his family and friends. Whether casting a line, tending to the land, spending time in the woods hunting a whitetail deer or turkey or enjoying a quiet evening on the water with family or friends, Loren cherished the simple moments that brought him close to nature and to the people he loved most.
Loren is survived by his devoted wife Paula; his children Curt (Cheryl) Evenson, Carrey (Ron) Koran, Chad (MaryJo) Evenson, Cory (Dan) Klonsinski, and Colleen (Tom) Bedics; and his grandchildren Colton and Halee Evenson, Jessica Dulak; Jacob, Eric, and Kyle Koran, Kelsie (Tyler) Aaseng; Sydona, Joseph, and Briella Evenson; Kaitlyn (Kyanna), Matthew, and Jenna Klonsinski; and Carson, Cole, and Tyler Bedics; and great-grandchildren Kaydance and Teagan Schneider. He is further survived by his sister Judy (Neil) Truttman and his cherished extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Merrill and Daisy Evenson, and by his brothers Loye, Robert, Roger and Douglas Evenson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nekoosa. Burial will follow at New Rome Cemetery in Rome. Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m.
Loren's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Arborwood Lodge Assisted Living and his personal caregivers for the exceptional care, compassion, and kindness they provided.
Loren will be remembered for his steady strength, his love for the outdoors, his dedication to family, and the countless ways he made life better for those around him.
