Linda Anunson

–

Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin

Linda Lee Anunson, 75, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the Portage County Health Care Center in Stevens Point.
She was born on December 8, 1949, in Wisconsin Rapids, the daughter of Lawrence and Rose (Joling) Loomans. Linda graduated from Lincoln High School in 1968 and began working at Consolidated Papers shortly after graduation. On December 23, 1976, she married Russell “Lee” Anunson at Faith Reformed Church in Wisconsin Rapids. She continued her career at Consolidated Papers in various roles until her retirement in 1997, following a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis.
Linda and Lee created a ‘second home’ in Saynor, Wisconsin, where they spent many weekends camping, enjoying campfires, and taking in the beauty of the Northwoods. She loved exploring the area’s quaint towns, visiting thrift stores and craft shows, and enjoying local food and small-town libraries. They continued to visit Saynor until Lee’s passing in 2000. Although multiple sclerosis ultimately confined her to a wheelchair, Linda embraced this change with grace. She found joy in reading, porch gardening, chatting on Facebook, and most of all, spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
Linda is survived by her sisters, LaVonne Hoogesteger and Charlotte (Roger) Knipple; brother-in-law Gary Anunson; sister-in-law Susan Marchand; her daughter, Amy (Ryan) Scheide; and her cherished grandchildren, Jesse (Vanessa) Scheide, Adrienne Scheide, and Gabrielle Scheide. She is also survived by her stepdaughters, Darla (Duane) Doescher and Brenda Martin; step-grandchildren Katie (Gavin) DeCleene, Amanda (Jim) Slomski, Shalee Doescher, Darren (Taylor) Doescher, Ashley (Craig) DeCaluwe; and great-grandchildren Brett, Marley, Natalya, Camden, Levi, Raelyn, Miles, Embersyn, Silas, and Josie. Linda treasured her nieces and nephews, Wendy Knipple, Dawn (Tony) Huizinga, Ann Slinkman, and Lisa (Charlie) Klein, and their children. She was also blessed with many close neighbors and friends. Linda's love for others was unconditional, and she touched the hearts of everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lee; her parents, Lawrence and Rose; her brother and sister-in-law, Bryce and Beverly Anunson; her brother-in-law James Hoogesteger; her sister-in-law Kay Anunson; her son-in-law Greg Martin; and her nephews Larry and Paul Barton, as well as her infant sister, Cynthia.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 22. A short service will follow at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Private entombment will take place at Forest Hill Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wisconsin Rapids Family Center.
If you knew Linda, you undoubtedly heard her say, "I’m a glass-half-full person," no matter what challenges life brought her way. May we all consider our own glass half full, as she did.
