Leonard Erickson

Leonard W. Erickson, age 92, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at his residence.

Leonard was born June 30, 1931, in Arpin, WI to Thorwald and Olive (Forderbrook) Erickson. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1951-1955. He married Shirley Brandt on June 22, 1957. After Shirley passed away, Leonard was well taken care of by the second love of his life, Charlotte Carlson.

Leonard was a self-employed home builder prior to his retirement. He was an excellent craftsman and wood carver and made many beautiful furniture pieces over the years. Leonard was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, boating on Lake Petenwell, and deer hunting, especially with his grandson. He also enjoyed feeding and watching the wildlife in his backyard and traveling. He was a loving father and will be deeply missed.

Leonard is survived by his children: Craig Erickson, Mitchell Erickson, Jodi Erickson, Christi (Jeff) Erickson-Bluem, and Cindy Erickson-Rivera; eight grandchildren: Jesse Bluem, Aisha Bluem, Tasha Bluem, Jacob Rivera, Garett Rivera, Heather Erickson, Matthew Erickson, and Michael Erickson; two great-grandchildren (and one on the way); and brother, Merle Erickson. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; and brother, Jim Erickson.

Private family services and military honors are being planned for a later date.
