Larry Tio

–

Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin

It is with deep sorrow and warm remembrance that we share the news of the passing of Larry Tio, born on October 24, 1950, in St. Paul, MN. Larry was a devoted family man, a beloved community member, and a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving his country with honor during a tour in Vietnam. His spirit was as mighty as the trucks he drove throughout his long career with Gross Common Carrier and USF Holland. His hearty laugh, love for country music, and knack for maintaining the perfect lawn will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

At home in Wisconsin Rapids, Larry was never one to sit idle. He found joy in the simple things: mowing the lawn, tending to his garden, creating firewood, and feeding the birds. Every winter, he and his devoted wife, Barbara, whom he married in November of 1971, migrated to their second home in Apache Junction, Arizona, where they enjoyed the warmth and tranquility. Summers were spent at the family cottage in Phillips, Wisconsin, a place Larry cherished and filled with memories.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; his son, Darrel; daughter, Anita; grandson, Makia Warshall; and a large extended family including sisters, Shirley (Ron) Steltenpohl, Judy (Alan) Scheunemann, LuAnn (Russ) Pelot, Beverly (Ted) Wolosek, Tami (Harvey) Kelly; mother-in-law, Laura Neinfeldt; and sister-in-law, Audrey Hopp. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Carol Tio; his sisters, Lori, Marilyn and Michelle; his brother-in-law, Ronald Hopp; his grandson, Damian Warshall and his fathers-in-law Carl Hankey and Art Neinfledt.

A Celebration of Larry's Life will be held at a later date.

Larry's life was a testament to the power of hard work, the strength of family bonds, and the joy found in nature and music. As we remember Larry, let us honor his memory by embracing these values. Please take a moment to share your favorite memories, stories, or photos of Larry on his memorial page. Your contributions will help us all to remember Larry as the remarkable man he was.
