With a radiant spirit and an unyielding zest for life, Julie A. Thurber was a beacon of love and kindness in the world. Born on April 1, 1941, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, Julie's journey of 84 years was marked by unending devotion to her loved ones, an unwavering commitment to her community, and a deep appreciation for the simpler joys of life.
Julie's life was shaped by compassion and an innate love for animals, leading her and her beloved husband, Clarence Thurber, to own and operate Pet Island in Wisconsin Rapids. Their shared passion blossomed into a cherished local institution, enriching their community until her retirement. Julie's love for life was infectious; she enjoyed raising animals, traveling, and cultivating her artistic side through ceramics. She was a woman of many talents; she loved writing poetry and dancing, especially square dancing. Julie and Clarence's shared love for antiquing was a testament to their appreciation for history and the stories embedded within every artifact. Their love story was one for the ages; high school sweethearts, their bond remained unbroken for 70 years, married for 65 of those years. This indelible love story is a testament to their enduring commitment and love for each other.
