Joseph E. Gamma, age 93, of Wisconsin Rapids passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Arborview Court in Wisconsin Rapids.

Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Joe was born on July 4, 1932 in Wisconsin Rapids to Joseph A. and Arvilla (Whitrock) Gamma. He served his country in the United States Army from 1952-1954. He married Peggy Steinke on September 9, 1979 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nekoosa. Together, they build a life filled with love, laughter, and mutual respect.

Joe found joy in the simplest of things. He was a man of the earth and spent his career as a local Christmas Tree Farmer, nurturing and cultivating the land on his beloved farm. His love for the outdoors extended beyond his vocation and infused his personal life. He relished camping, canoeing, fishing, and backpacking, often journeying to the Boundary Waters. His appreciation for nature was evident in his keen interest in wildflowers and gardening, and he found a unique sense of fulfillment in splitting firewood. Joseph had a spirit for adventure, often traveling with his wife Peggy to many locations including Germany, Italy, and Switzerland. They spent 20 memorable winters in Mexico.

Joe is survived by his loving wife Peggy; four step-children: Larry Steinke, Cheryl (Chris) Stensberg, Robin (Dennis) Dederich, and David Steinke (Denise); five grandchildren: Laura Loveless (Gage), Michelle (Robert) Jacobson, Melissa (John) Epperech, Daniel (Samantha) Steinke, and Krysta Fiegel; eight great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Leann Gotz, Karen Mortimer, and Marilyn (Peter) Augustyniak. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Sarah Appel; sister Laurel Gamma; and brothers-in-law Frank Gotz and Carl Mortimer.

Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family.
