Janice Thomas

Janice M. Thomas, age 90, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Aspirus Riverview Hospital.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Pastor Timothy Ritter will officiate. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church.
Janice was born on July 15, 1933, in Rozellville, WI to Charles and Rose (Tessmer) Doescher. She graduated from Auburndale High School. She married William F. Thomas on October 9, 1954, they were blessed with 25 years of marriage until his passing on September 15, 1980. Janice worked at Riverview Manor as a housekeeper for over 15 years.
Janice was a dedicated homemaker, who took great pride in creating a warm, loving environment for her family. She was ever-present at her children’s and grandchildren's school events and sports games, cheering them on. Summers were marked by delightful picnics on the 4th of July, with the family gathered to watch fireworks from their house; these moments became treasures of priceless memories. Her monthly luncheons with her schoolmates were events she looked forward to sharing time with them and catching up on the latest news.
She was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for over 64 years, where she served in the Altar Guild, visited the homebound, and contributed to Project Compassion. She always made sure the children were up early and attended Sunday School. Polka held a special place in her life, the rhythmic tunes often resonating in her home. She often took the kids to watch William play in his band and listen and dance to various other polka bands.
Through all this, what mattered most to Janice was spending time with her family, cherishing each moment, creating memories that will remain etched in their hearts forever.
Janice is survived by her children: Robert C. (Debra) Thomas, Cheryl (Weldon) Kuhn, John (Janis) Thomas, Alan Thomas, Lisa (Lance) Black; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers: LeRoy (Marlene) Doescher, Ron (Marcia) Doescher; sister-in-law Delores Doescher; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband William; brothers: Harold (Donna) Doescher, Charles Doescher, and LaVern (Betty) Doescher; sister, Janet (Ronald) Marmsolar.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Our House along with the staff at Aspirus Riverview Hospital ER, ICU, and second floor for the quality of care for Janice.
