Janet Ann Jensen, 88, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday August 12th. She was born on March 7th 1937 to Anton and Arlene Malek, who preceded her in death, along with her beloved son, Danny, her dear sister Barbara, sweet dog Bani and several other cherished relatives and in-laws who welcomed her home.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Yulan, of 69 wonderful years, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and laughter. Together, they raised four children, and she is lovingly remembered by her surviving children: Lori (Ron) Alft, Debbie (Donny) Abfall, Tim (Kelly) Jensen and Dawn Jensen. She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy. Janet is also survived by her siblings, Kay Swartz and Bill (Marsha) Malek; her in-laws, Eugene Jensen, Marian Jensen and Bob (Debra) Jensen; and a circle of close friends who were like family to her.
She shared a special bond with her younger sister, Barbara, and in a twist of fate that delighted them both, they married brothers. Their families remained deeply connected through the years.
Janet was a woman of many hobbies. She loved to knit, cross-stitch, and crochet—always creating something beautiful. She had a passion for purse shopping and a treasured collection of snowmen that brightened her home. In her younger years, she enjoyed attending her Homemakers group. She proudly worked 22 years as a school cook at Howe Elementary. Later, after retirement, she and Yulan made countless memories camping in the comfort of their RV.
Her faith was central to her life. Every Sunday, she could be found at church, where she built lifelong friendships and deepened her relationship with God. She delighted in hearing every detail about her family’s days, never missing a chance to share in their joys and accomplishments.
She will be deeply missed, but her love, faith, and the countless memories she created will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at Faith Baptist Church 2740 14th Street South, Wisconsin Rapids on Friday August 22nd. Visitation will take place 9:00 - 11:00 am with service and luncheon to follow.
