Janet E. Fisher, 71, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, September 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving partner of 30 years, Robert “Bob” Kniprath, and her family.
Jan was born on April 20, 1955, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and was adopted by Joseph and Lois (Kerr) Walter. She graduated from Lincoln High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Alverno College in Milwaukee.
Jan was an extraordinary businesswoman who began as an entrepreneur, starting the Auto Clinic in Wisconsin Rapids, before building a successful career in sales at Best Power in Necedah and later at Renaissance Learning in Wisconsin Rapids. She also volunteered a great deal of her time in countless different ways to her community. Jan was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, where she showed the love of Jesus with a true servant’s heart to the many people whose lives she influenced and touched. She was also a master gardener, and there was nothing she loved more than feeling the dirt between her toes and the sunshine on her face.
For thirty years, Jan shared her life with Bob, and in that time she became a beloved and cherished part of his family. To his grandchildren she loved being “Grandma Jan” and was loved by them just as much. Jan deeply loved them in return and always showed sincere interest in anything that was important to them.
Jan was extremely adventurous, loved trying new things, and was perhaps best known for encouraging all the people she loved in life to do the same. Jan also loved to travel and experienced many amazing trips around the world with Bob and her family.
Jan is survived by the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Kniprath; her beloved children, Tina Fisher and Ryan Fisher; her sister, Jane (Ron) Ogurek; her brother, Steve (Julie) Walter; her niece, Cali Ogurek; her nephew Troy Walter; her grandchildren, Christopher, Colton, and Amelia Kniprath (children of Bob and Carrie Kniprath), Jayden and Jaci Porter (children of Cynthia Porter), and Alexander (Kiara), Thomas, Margaret, Benjamin, Samuel, Richard, and Charles Kniprath (children of Scott and Sarah Kniprath); and her great-granddaughter, Adeline Porter (daughter of Jayden Porter).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lois Walter and by her niece Amanda Walter.
