In the words of Albert Einstein, "The only source of knowledge is experience." This quote embodied the life of James W. Parker, affectionately known as Jim. Born on June 26, 1971, in Lansing, Michigan, James had an incredible gift of learning from life's experiences and using them to touch the hearts of those around him with wisdom, kindness and humor. He spent most of his life in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, where he was not just a resident, but a well-loved member of the community.
Despite the challenges he faced, James was a beacon of resilience and determination, never allowing his disability to define him. Instead, he found strength in it, using his experiences to inspire others. His ability to overcome adversity and continue to radiate positivity made him an unforgettable figure in the lives of many. His infectious laughter, charismatic personality, and his unconditional love for those around him were his hallmarks. James lived his life fully and unapologetically, reminding us all to appreciate the beauty in each day, and in the words of Maya Angelou, "to be a rainbow in someone else's cloud."
James is survived by his fiance, Christine Scepan; children, Xayden Parker, Kianna Parker, Victor Parker and Faith Gievers; his brother, Wilbert (Kimberly) Parker; and by his best friend Joe Guevara, all who will forever remember him as a man of indomitable spirit and boundless love. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert Parker and Sharon Parker, who instilled in him the values of kindness, compassion, and resilience.
We invite those who knew and loved James to share their memories and upload photos to his memorial page. As we celebrate the life of this extraordinary man, we are reminded of his favorite quote by Helen Keller, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." In sharing our experiences, we can continue to feel James's enduring love and cherish the beauty of his life that was felt by so many.
