Glen Edward “Porky” Danielson, age 84, of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at The House of the Dove in Marshfield, WI. Glen was surrounded by his loving children and grandchildren. We are all going to miss his dearly.
Glen was born in Waupaca, WI to Edsil L. and Emily E. (Mitcheltree) Danielson on August 12, 1940. He was raised on Saratoga Street in Wisconsin Rapids. He had an older sister, Beverly, an older brother, Paul, and a much-younger sister, Marcia.
He graduated from Lincoln High School as a member of the class of 1958. He went to work at the Wisconsin Highway Department as a surveyor’s aide from 1958-1960. In 1960, Glen was married and began a new job at Consolweld Corporation in the shipping department. He worked there until the business closed in 1988. He did seasonal work for the State of Wisconsin until his retirement at age 60.
Glen married Delores Jean Wallace on January 23, 1960 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Edwards, WI. Together they raised four children in the Port Edwards and Wisconsin Rapids areas. Glen and Dee were married for 63 years. Dee passed away on February 17, 2023.
They enjoyed fishing at Lake Oneida and camping in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Together they traveled to Florida and Arizona to visit family and friends. Dee and Glen also attended their son David’s basketball games and all their grandchildren’s events and activities.
Glen started fishing at a young age. His mother would send his older brother and him in a taxi to go fishing at Nepco Lake. When he wasn’t working, he was fishing, hunting, or playing cards. When he wasn’t doing those activities, he was on the phone talking about going fishing and hunting. He gave out very little information about his new “hotspot” or hunting land he received permission to use.
