Garnet L.Theama

Garnet Theama, 92, was welcomed into heaven on January 11, 2025. She joined the many family members she had been longing to see.

Garnet was born November 20, 1932, in Racine, WI., to Amanda and Einer Alstad. After her father died, Alex Shafranski became "Pa" to her and her siblings, Marilyn, Laverne and Monrad. She was married to Hubert "Bud" Theama for 15 years and was the mother of Pat (David) Buri, Sandy (Pat) Gillis, Lorraine (David) Weise, Debbie (Michael) Holterman, and Tom (Peggy) Theama.

She was the grandmother of Dave (Linda) Buri, Dan (Heidi) Buri, Denise (Jason) Criplean, Hollie (Greg) Foust, Adam (Angel Gukenberger) Gillis, Jason Gillis, Nicole (Jake) Bain, Brian Weise, Dave Weise Jr., Heidi (Tim) Peltz, Justin Weise, Heather Weise, Cheryl (CJ Grandberry) Holterman, Laura (Marcus Beyer) Holterman, Brooke Theama and Jesse Theama. She also had 23 great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.

While living in Racine, Garnet worked at Western Printing, Hamilton Beach, Poly Clean, Racine Screen Printing, and as a "foster grandma" to young women in prison. After moving to Wisconsin Rapids, Garnet worked in home health care before retiring. She lived among many friends at 10th Avenue Apartments.

Services will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 12:00 noon at First Baptist Church, 910 McKinley St., Wisconsin Rapids. Visitation with the family will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a service and lunch to follow.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Our House Assisted Living for the care and love they gave Mom during her years there.

Garnet will be remembered as a sweet and kind woman by the people who knew her.
