Eleanore M. Piper, age 94, of Wisconsin Rapids passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Calvary Baptist Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Jack Austin will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services on Wednesday at the church.
Eleanore was born December 24, 1930 in Wisconsin Rapids to Edwin and Esther (Ost) Karlstedt. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1948. She worked at Consolidated Papers, Edgewater Haven Nursing Home, and a local downtown restaurant where she met her future husband, Milton “Pug” Piper. They were married on November 10, 1951 and were blessed with 58 years of marriage until Milton passed away in 2009.
Eleanore was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed many years in the children’s AWANA program and Sunday School program at the church. She went on many fun day trips with the church’s Hilltoppers group. She spent many years assembling Bibles at Wyldewood Baptist Church in Oshkosh with a group that met once a month.
Eleanore’s passions in life were cooking, baking, and playing Skip-Bo and Uno with anyone who was willing to play. She loved attending all of her grandchildren’s sports and activities. She also loved her four-mile walks everyday with her husband in her fifties and sixties and even into her seventies.
Eleanore is survived by her daughter, Debra (David) Kuschel of Wisconsin Rapids; four granddaughters: Becky (Charles) Walters, Angie (Jon) Hillmeyer, Katie Kuschel, and Kari Kuschel all of Wisconsin Rapids; four great-grandchildren: Skyler, Aliyah, and Lucy Yusten, Oliver Hillmeyer, and baby Hillmeyer who is due to arrive in May. She is further survived by daughter-in-law, Karen Piper; brother-in-law, Ronald Radtke; one very special “adopted” daughter, LoAnn Belknap; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Steven; daughter, Linda Lou; and her parents, brothers and sisters.
The family would like to thank Edenbrook of Wisconsin Rapids and The Renaissance of Wisconsin Rapids for the wonderful care and comfort that was given to her during her stay with them.
Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family.
