Elaine was born December 14, 1934 in Berlin, WI to Harold and Ann (Polus) Armbruster. She attended Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids. She married John Havitz on May 17, 1958 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. They were blessed with 55 years of marriage. John passed away on December 11, 2013.
Elaine wore many hats, but the one she loved the most was that of a homemaker, where she created a haven of comfort and love for her family. Her home was always alive with the scent of her excellent cooking, the beauty of her loved flowers, and the laughter of card games. Elaine had a green thumb, which was evident in her lush garden. Her hobby of making maple syrup was well known and brought her much joy. As a woman of many interests, Elaine also found happiness in line dancing, an activity that exemplified her zest for life. In her later years, she developed a fondness for going out to lunch, embracing every opportunity to enjoy the company of others.
Elaine was a woman of immense love and commitment. The love she had for her family was palpable and everlasting. She was an anchor, a beacon of warm light who brought comfort to all who were lucky enough to know her.
Elaine is survived by four daughters: Sharon (Kerry) Blackmun, Atwater, CA, Patti (Geno) Nystrom, Wisconsin Rapids, Tina Havitz, Wisconsin Rapids, and Beth (Kenneth) Smazal, Rincon, GA; eight grandchildren: Vern, Vanessa, Ronald, Travis, Kyle, Tyler, Sara, and Larissa; 10 great-grandchildren; two siblings: Karen Kuehl, Kewaunee, WI, and James (Lorinda) Armbruster, Nekoosa; sister-in-law, Mary Lippert; brothers-in-law: Virgil Seavers, Elliot Havitz (Katherine Sandman), and Lloyd Havitz; and many nieces and nephews.
