Diane G. Lieber, age 85, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Our House Senior Living in Wisconsin Rapids.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Pastor Bryce Clayton will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Saturday.
Diane was born March 1, 1940, in Wisconsin Rapids, to Peter and Bernice (Stenerson) Jepson. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1958. She married Rolland Lieber on September 30, 1961, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They were married for 54 years until his passing in 2015.
Diane faithfully served the Wood County Sheriff’s Department as secretary for more than 25 years before her retirement. Even then, her dedication to serving others did not end; she continued her work as a civil servant for another two decades, always committed to her community.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Diane was a devoted member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was active in the evening guild, generously sharing her time and talents through the prayer chain, creating baskets and blankets, preparing funeral luncheons, and delivering meals to those in need. Service to others was not simply something she did — it was who she was.
Above all, Diane treasured time with her family. She loved trips to Minocqua, where she delighted in fishing and listening for the haunting call of the loons across the water. Family gatherings were often filled with laughter around the card table, where she enjoyed games of Skip-Bo, Phase 10, cribbage, bunco, and a spirited round of Hand and Foot. She also looked forward to bus trips shared with her husband and friends, always ready for the next adventure.
Diane was especially known for her cooking and baking, with Christmas being her favorite season in the kitchen. She began a cherished Norwegian baking day tradition, bringing the family together to make lefse and rosettes — memories that will be treasured for generations. In celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary, she and her husband gathered the entire family for a trip to Disney, a joyful milestone that reflected her love of family and creating lasting memories.
She is survived by her children: Scott (Julie) Lieber and Amy (Scott) Petersen; grandchildren: Sydney and Dalton Petersen.
Diane is preceded in death by her parents and stepdad, Howard Henry; her brother, Robert (Verna) Jepson; and her brothers-in-law, Calvin (Patty) Lieber and Arthur (Barbara) Lieber.
The family would like to thank Pam and the staff at Our House Senior Living and St. Croix Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
