Beatrice M. Smith

–

Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin

In the heart of Wisconsin, the world welcomed a vibrant spirit, Beatrice M. Smith, born in Milwaukee on September 11, 1941. Known for her captivating energy and caring nature, Beatrice’s life was a testament to the power of resilience, love, and dedication. Beatrice's life was an open book of nurturing care, craftsmanship, and camaraderie - a book that came to a close on September 7, 2025.

Beatrice began her professional journey in the bustling world of paper manufacturing at the Biron Paper Mill, then transitioned to retail sales at Woolco Stores. Her career was cut short following a tragic motorcycle accident in 1968 that took the life of her beloved husband, Gerald, and left her disabled. Despite the hardships, Beatrice never allowed her spirit to dwindle. She found solace and joy in playing bunco, polish poker, crafting handmade cards, and painting pictures. These hobbies not only spoke volumes about her creativity and resilience but also brought the local community together, just as she did as a member of the Red Hat Ladies and a charter member of the Rapids Angels Motorcycle Club which was formed in 1959.

Beatrice was a caregiver at heart, starting as a neighborhood babysitter and then caring for her own family. Her love for her family was the essence of her being, and her absence will leave an irreplaceable void. Beatrice is survived by her son, Kevin (Lynn) Kester, stepson, Carlton (Marie) Smith; siblings, Bernard Klafka, Linda (Bruce) Coenen, Anna Abel, and June (Doug) Schneider; grandchildren, Jason Fry and Stacie Fry; 4 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Roman and Myrtle (Gukenberger) Klafka; husbands, Gerald Kester and Stanley Smith; sister, Susan Kann; an infant son, Mark Kester and a special friend Maynard Patrick

Per Beatrice's wishes, no services will be held. Her life was a living testament of love, resilience, and caring; qualities that will continue to inspire those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Please join us in celebrating Beatrice's life by sharing your memories, photos, and stories on her memorial page.
