Barbara J. Benz

It is with sincere sadness yet pride in a life vibrantly lived that we announce the passing of Barbara J. Benz, known affectionately to many as "Barb". Born in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, on June 26, 1948, Barb spent her life serving the community she loved, from her early years in nursing to her retirement from the city's engineering department.

On April 22, 1967, Barb married her childhood friend and sweetheart Peter W. Benz. They were blessed with 45 years of marriage until his passing in 2012.

A woman of many talents, Barbara's passion and dedication extended beyond her chosen career. She was fiercely proud of her lawn, which she meticulously cared for, reflecting the beauty and order she brought to all aspects of her life. Barbara's spirit of adventure often took her on road trips on her Trike with her late husband, Pete, while her love for the outdoors found her fishing alongside family and friends.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Jon Peters) Benz-Peters, her son, Casey (Meagan) Benz, her brother Michael (Hollie) Molepske, her sister Luann (Clay) Poler, her cherished grandchildren Delaney Benz (Hunter Dawley), Gibson Benz, Myia Peters, and her great-grandson Beckham Dawley. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Peter Benz in 2012, parents, Clarence, and Helen (Beck) Molepske, and her brothers Dennis and Paul Molepske.

The family welcomes those who knew and loved Barbara to a visitation on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 4:00pm CDT at the Herman-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 2201 Chestnut Street, Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, 54494. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home at 7:00pm CDT.
