Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin
Arnold L. Phillips, age 73, of Wisconsin Rapids passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Arnold was born on May 14, 1950, to Leslie and Evelyn (Russell) Phillips in Sparta, WI. He was united in marriage to Mary Konchek on June 11, 2017, at City Point Community Church in Pittsville, WI. He worked as a semi-driver for several years then as a dump truck driver for Paradise Trucking.
Arnie was a man who found joy in the simple things of life. He loved the open road, often seen behind the wheel of his semi or dump truck, or cruising on his beloved Harley. His adventurous spirit was not confined to the highways; he had a profound love for the great outdoors, often escaping to the tranquility of the wild to camp and fish with his wife. These were the moments when his compassionate side shone the brightest. Arnie also had a deep love for classic country and bluegrass music. His talent was evident every time he graced the stage at the City Point Community Church or local nursing homes, playing his guitar and mandolin, and filling the air with his soulful tunes. He was a faithful member of the church for more than a decade, sharing his love for music and brightening people's lives with his melodies.
Arnie's evenings were often spent in the company of his treasured cat, Sweet Pea, and catching up on the day's events on the news. His great sense of humor was a beacon that drew everyone in, his laughter a melody that would echo in our hearts forever. His love for music was more than just a hobby; it was his way of connecting with people, of sharing a piece of his soul with the world.
A celebration of Arnie’s life and his birthday will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at City Point Community Church, W145 State Highway 54 in Pittsville, WI.
Arnold is survived by his loving wife Mary; son Chad Phillips; brothers: Edward Phillips, Leslie Phillips, Steve (Bridget) Sheffler; sisters: Carol (Roger) Ellis, Sandy (Jerry) Harmel, Teresa (Harlan) Harmel, Debra Phillips and Gail (Greg) Bires; three grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and his cat Sweet Pea.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Lee Phillips.
