Albert Wefel

Albert W. Wefel, 86, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

Albert was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on December 6, 1939 to Charles and Bessie Wefel. He graduated from South High School in 1957 and the following year was married to Phyllis Johnson on November 6, 1958, they were married for 62 years when Phyllis passed away in September of 2020. They met at Lake Geneva Bible Camp in Alexandria Minnesota at youth camp and made their faith a central part of their lives and marriage while raising their 5 children.

Albert was a hard worker holding a variety of jobs throughout his life. Along with being a talented mechanic, he served in a variety of ways at his church as an usher and a leader in the Royal Rangers boys program. He worked as a diesel mechanic for Twin Cities Mack Trucks where he eventually retired.

He enjoyed traveling with his wife around the country, camping and enjoying school and sporting events involving his children and later his grandchildren. Following the passing of his wife Phyllis, he moved from Farmington, Minnesota to Marshfield, Wisconsin and then to Port Edwards, Wisconsin where he passed away peacefully at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home.

Albert is survived by his daughters: Karen Melson and Kristi Carlson and sons: Jeffery (Shawna) Wefel and Robert (Christine) Wefel, 13 Grandchildren and 19 Great-grandchildren.

Albert is preceded in death by his wife Phyllis (Johnson) his parents Charles and Bessie Wefel, his Daughter Kathleen (Timothy) Conboy, his Brothers Charles (Janice) Wefel and Richard (Florence) Wefel and Sisters Charlotte Wefel, Helen Lundberg, Barbara (Jerry) Herman, Nancy (Richard) Crammond and grandson Mark Melson.

An internment will be planned for a later date for Albert and his wife Phyllis's remains to be interred together in their final resting place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids WI.
