Obituary of Dale Newman

Dale Edwards Newman, age 61, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on July 22, 2017.


Services will be 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 27 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids.  Pastor Jack Austin will officiate.  Interment will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.


Dale was born August 12, 1955 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI to Theodore and Eva (Hurd) Newman.  He spent most of his youth in the state of Washington.  After his mother passed away at a young age, he moved back to Wisconsin Rapids and lived with his aunt and uncle for several years before returning to Washington.  He graduated from Central Kitsap High School in Silverdale, Washington.


Dale served his country in the United State Airforce in the 62nd Security Forces Squadron from 1975 until his retirement in 1993 as a Technical Sergeant.  He served in support of Desert Shield/Storm form August 2, 1990 to September 30, 1993.  His service also took him to Panama.  He was awarded the AF Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, AF Good Conduct Medal with four oak leaf clusters, National Defense Medal with bronze star, AF Overseas Short Tour Ribbon with oak leaf cluster, AF Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, AF Longevity Service Award Ribbon with three oak leaf clusters.


Dale drove as an over the road truck driver for several years.


Dale was a very fun-loving person and was always able to make his family and friends laugh.  He loved travel and enjoyed nature.  His Jack Russell “Brit” was the dog of his life.

Dale is survived by his brother, Eugene (Juanita) Newman of Las Vegas, NV; several cousins; and many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
